Obviously most guys who don't like it won't say so, because of the reactions from other posters.

I just wish more people chose (and were financially able) to put family first. I think alot of problems today stem from the lack of a strong family unit. I'm all for choice and I'd never take that away from anyone.

I'm not stalkerish per se, but not getting an answer for why they decided not to date me hits me pretty hard, that I end up being depressed for the next two or three days. When I think about most of my dates, I never got flat out rejected, they always ended up ignoring me. Then I bounce back. I've been known to cyberstalk their myspaces. But after a time I move on. That's why I avoid getting together with anyone that appears flaky.

It is a cultural thing. You have only been together a short time and yet you have already broken up once over serious issues. I don't think he wants to change and this makes him feel pressured and cornered. He's entitled to think this. But for you, it evidently is a big problem and he knows this. None of the issues have really been resolved so you are both back at square one. I think (he's a foreigner, right?) that he really doesn't consider his smoking and drinking a real problem. A lot of Europeans don't.

Thirty is a great age, but is treated like a funeral rather than a celebration. When you turn 29, you will develop a lot of compassion for your girlfriend (whether ex or not). Turning 30 is a peculiar right of passage in our culture.
